Mission Statement
The Francestown Planning Board is entrusted with the task of encouraging and directing appropriate land use in the Town of Francestown. Using the Francestown Master Plan as a guide in making decisions, the Planning Board:
- Reviews and rules on proposals for subdivision, lot line adjustment, consolidations, and site development according to the town’s zoning ordinance, subdivision regulations and site development regulations;
- Prepares and updates annually the Town’s 6-year Capitol Improvement Plan
- Is responsible for the preparation and periodic update of the Town’s Master Plan;
- Proposes or reviews suggested changes to the Town’s Zoning Ordinances for presentation to voters at the annual Town Meeting.
The Planning Board is composed of citizen volunteers elected by the citizens of Francestown for a term of three years. The terms are staggered so two members of the board are elected each year. A member of the Board of Selectman also sits as ex-officio member of the Planning Board. Alternate Members are appointed by the Planning Board.
The Planning Board generally meets every first and third Tuesday of the month at 7 PM in the Town’s Meeting Room, the lower level of the Town Offices.
